Our Story

The Crown Chronicles was founded in 2015 by Victoria Howard, royal historian and commentator, as an independent voice for royal news and history.

More than a decade on, we’re a community of more than 350,000 readers around the world who come to us for coverage that takes the monarchy seriously — its history, its people, and the traditions behind the headlines.

Victoria holds an MA in history and a career in communications/PR. Alongside The Crown Chronicles she provides royal commentary to the BBC, Channel 4, and more, features in documentary productions, and speaks and writes on the monarchy’s history. That expertise sits behind every article we publish — and behind every piece we choose for our collection.

Our collection grew out of that community. Readers wanted more than stories; they wanted to hold something of the history they’d been reading about. So in 2019, we began curating a range of royal-inspired tiaras and jewellery, drawn from the pieces worn by royal women across the centuries.

Chosen with an eye for history 

We select every piece ourselves, and we know these jewels well. We’ve written about them, researched them in the archives, and spent years tracing where they came from and who wore them. That’s the standard a piece has to meet before it joins the collection: does it capture what made the original remarkable?

From Victorian filigree to the clean lines of a modern diadem, we look for design and detail that stand apart from ordinary costume jewellery.

A note on authenticity

We believe in being straightforward with our community. Our pieces are royal-inspired replicas and collectors’ items. They are not official royal artefacts, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any royal household.

What they are is carefully chosen tributes to history, pieces made to be worn and enjoyed, chosen with the same care we bring to everything we publish.
